Please Bring the Light

There’s a child who can’t sleep at night.
In the dark, the shadows come too close.
And he holds his comfort tight.
And he prays, “Lord, protect me. Protect me from these fears.”

And his fears are our fears.
We must bring the light of peace and love.
Please bring the light.

Where have all the angels gone?
Their bright forms, luminescent hope.
In his mind he hears a song,
A lullaby about the moon and stars. . .
He hears his mother’s voice.

And his fears are our fears.
We must bring the light of peace and love.
Please bring the light.

Now, now, now.
Please bring it now.
Bring it now.

He says the fears are in his mind.
Yeah, he knows,
He’s grown too old to believe in ghosts.
Yet, still, peace is hard to find
So he lies, wide awake, eyes searching in the dark.

And his fears are our fears.
We must bring the light of peace and love.
Please bring the light.
Help me bring the light.
‘Cause his fears are my fears.
We must bring the light of peace and love.
Please bring the light.
Help me bring the light of love.
Please bring the light.
